See You Soon, Elisha

Nobody warned us that building a franchise business would mean building a team you genuinely care about. We probably should have seen that coming.

Today, Elisha finished her last day in her HQ support role at Your Man With A Van. And if that sentence makes it sound straightforward, it really isn’t.

How it started

Elisha came to us with something most people in a support role don’t have: genuine inside knowledge of what we do. Her husband Ben owns multiple YMWAV branches, which meant she understood this business, what mattered to the network, and what our day-to-day actually felt like before she’d sent a single email on our behalf.

That’s not nothing. That’s actually everything.

When you’re looking for someone to hold things together behind the scenes, it helps enormously if they already get it. Elisha got it from day one.

What she brought

The honest truth about running a franchise operation is that a lot of the best work is invisible. Compliance structures. Social media consistency across a growing network of branches. The hundred small things that keep everything from quietly unravelling. None of it makes headlines, but all of it matters.

Elisha handled it all with the kind of steady, excellent attitude that you cannot train into someone. Either they have it or they don’t. She had it in abundance.

Her impact on social media, both across our branches and at head office, has been real and it will last. The compliance work she helped structure is still paying off. And alongside all of that, there was a steady stream of ad hoc projects that just got done, properly, without drama.

We used to describe her as a steady pair of hands. That’s true, but it undersells her. She brought warmth to everything she touched. And that, in a business built on the way people feel when they’re working with us, counts for a lot.

The right kind of goodbye

We’ve decided we’re not doing goodbyes. Just see you soon.

Elisha is stepping back from her HQ role to focus more fully on supporting Ben’s branches and to spend a bit more time with their son. That’s absolutely the right call. The best people know when the next chapter is calling them, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Finding someone brilliant is never something you can manufacture or plan for. When it happens, you know it. You’re grateful for it. And when circumstances shift, you hold onto the fact that good people tend to stay in your world one way or another.
