Cat’s Feature Interview in Sussex Exclusive
We were thrilled to be featured in Sussex Exclusive this month.
Cat sat down with commissioning editor Dee Blick for a proper feature interview: the kind that goes beyond the business headline and gets into the real stuff. How YMWAV came to be a franchise. What the early days actually felt like. The philosophy behind the way we run things. And Winston, obviously.
For anyone who doesn’t know Sussex Exclusive, it’s a well-loved publication covering the best of business, lifestyle and community across Sussex. We have franchisees across the county now, which gave the interview a local angle that felt genuinely relevant rather than just convenient.
The conversation covered a lot of ground.
Cat talked about the decision to go down the franchise route rather than expanding from a central point, and why building a community of branch owners felt like the right call. She talked about the early days, when everyone they spoke to thought they were a bit mad for trying to build something so different from the traditional franchise model. She talked about what it actually means to say your franchisees are your bosses, and why fewer rules generally make for a happier network.
There’s a section on imposter syndrome that will resonate with anyone who has ever built something from scratch and felt the ground shift under them. And there are a few genuinely useful words of wisdom in there for anyone thinking about franchising their own business.
Oh, and Winston gets a full section. Rightfully so.
